Break

Hey guys!

Just started working for the summmer camp yesterday--made it safefully by train to Neumarkt (in Bavaria) and have been doing the training week stuff. Fun times, but tiring for sure. Unfortunately though, my host family (host woman actually) has no internet, so i won't be able to update for a week or so.

But i will let everyone know about my fun times visiting Julia and Pia in Koblenz and the cool soccer playing dog i met!

bis bald!!

Trier

So I am visiting my relatives for a few days before i go to München, staying with my aunt, uncle, and cousin Lea. Today we went to Trier in the afternoon to go shopping. (Didn't do anything in the morning, because i ended up sleeping till 1pm---and would have easily slept longer if they didn't come wake me up! and i had gone to bed at 1130pm ha ha.)

I was born in Trier and 2 years ago i spent like a week exploring it (because its the closest "city" to where my family lives), which was actually far too long considering it is a town with only 100,000 people living in it. So didn't feel the need to do lots of sightseeing there, although it does have cute buildings and lots of neat roman ruins.

Here's a few pictures from today:

My 9 year old cousin Lea (soo cute!)

main area of Trier

main area with Porta Nigra in the background (the black gate, super old roman gate)

cool street performer fountain guz (water came out of his hair and fingertips!)

just a pretty building

more pictures and exciting things to come!

Made it

I have safely made it to Germany. It was long. There were delays. I am still pretty jetlagged and I desperately need to brush my teeth. More updates to come when I'm more cognizant.

Packing

So currently my days are being consumed by the dreadful task of packing and moving. I just moved out of my place into a sublet a couple months ago, so at this point it's almost becoming a hobby.

Thankfully i don't have to do any heavy lifting, since i'm getting rid of my furniture. But I am having to deal with having too many things (ie TONS of clothes) to bring with me.

This is what my suitcase currently looks like

Not only is this one massive suitcase, but i still have one bag of clothing in the washer and i've already given away two bags of clothing to GoodWill. gah. I am also bringing a smaller suitcase (filled just with shoes), a backpack, and a good-sized duffel bag.

The problem i'm having is I can't store that much with my parents, so that means for the majority of my things i've gotta bring 'em or toss 'em. And i am just awful at throwing things away. Can't do it. Maybe it's my fear that i'll eventually need it someday that holds me back. Not sure, but i'm also the type of person who can't throw food away and tries to push it onto other people's plates when at all possible. So i'm probably just a bit pathalogical about the whole thing.

So to procrastinate i've been watching a couple of you tube video's about packing (yes i know i'm a nerd)

This video is cool because this guy has all these super light weight and magically tiny things he's bringing with him (granted he's going to maui for a short time not germany), but he does lose mega points in my book for only bring two pairs of underwear, especially because they are freaky see through mesh underwear. EWWW.

This other video is just about a cool way to pack your luggage, not something i would have come up with on my own.

Yeah I know. I need to stop wasting time and start packing.

It Begins

Hey guys!

Guess I've finally jumped on the blogging bandwagon.

I've decided to create a travel blog for my time in Germany and the rest of Europe for a couple of reasons:

1) Instead of having to send out 9 million emails to all of my lovely friends and family I can let you guys know about what's going on with me in a less time-consuming way.

and

2) So I have some written account of this time in my life when my tiny memory starts to fail me.

So hopefully i'll be good at updating it, but seeing as I haven't been able to keep a journal ever going, we'll see.

Oh and for you non-German speakers, Das Abenteur means "the adventure" in english, which is what i'm hoping this year or so of my life will be.
